UNITED WAY SMALL BUSINESS BLITZ GOING ON NOW

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. - United Way of Marshall County is conducting its annual Small Business Blitz this month in which volunteers are contacting small businesses face-to-face or by phone asking them to contribute to the 2017/2018 United Way Campaign. The United Way Small Business Blitz is held in partnership with WQSB 105.1 in Albertville, Power 107.5 in Albertville and WTWX 95.9 in Guntersville. On Tuesday, November 7, all small businesses that have made a contribution or pledge on or before that date will be announced on the air from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The amount collected will help United Way reach its campaign goal this year of $755,000 to help fund 22 partner agencies and programs that will provide direct services to Marshall County residents in need.

United Way’s annual campaign began August 15 with local companies that volunteered to run United Way Pacesetter campaigns. To date, thanks to these Pacesetters and other companies conducting workplace campaigns, approximately 40 percent or $300,134 has been pledged towards meeting this year’s goal. The focus continues as campaign volunteers and staff work diligently to reach out to donors through corporate, employee, individual and leadership giving.

To aid in the effort, United Way has once again called upon its corporate and community partners to lend their brightest and best employees to serve as Loaned Executives. This team of community professionals gives their expertise and energy to assist United Way in the development and implementation of its workplace campaigns.  This year’s LE’s are: Dietrich Schaefer (Marshall County Arc), Jennifer Floyd (DHR), Andrea Shields (Citizens Bank & Trust), Shenequah DeBerry (Peoples Independent Bank) and Lesa Benefield (Vantage Bank).

For more information, or if you would like to contribute, contact the United Way office at (256) 582-4700 or send your pledge directly to United Way of Marshall County at 709 Blount Avenue, Guntersville, AL 35976.
